Petite Fashion Challenge: From Glam to Casual!

I’m going to do something different this session. Rather than at Shorty Stories, my Petite Fashion Challenge is being posted at DelectablyChic!, a site that focuses on general style, rather than something that is height/petite-specific. So, for those readers who are not regular Shorty Stories readers, the Petite Fashion Challenge, which launched in 2010, asks petite bloggers (and some non-bloggers, too) to come up with outfits under a certain theme (e.g. holiday parties, date night, petite “don’ts”, etc…).  Anyway, this month’s Petite Fashion Challenge, hosted by I Am Khatu asks readers:

From Night to Day: Restyle a glamorous look that you would typically wear for a night-out-on-the-town into daytime casual wear. Easy right? Bonus points if you can restyle it for work!

The dress I chose is by Traffic People and was purchased in a little boutique in Montreal called Lola & Emily.  For the “glam”/”formal” look, I decided to make it simple.  This look is similar to what I wore out to dinner with my husband on our first anniversary:

  • Dress: Traffic People, XS
  • Shoes: Manolo Blahnik (the d’Orsay), size 5
  • Clutch: 442 McAdam Regal Trio (this one sold out. Red and black versions still available)

The casual look is not so much work-appropriate but more for a daytime (or even night) event at a place where “afternoon tea” type manners aren’t necessary.  I can see myself wearing the outfit to fashion event (e.g. Fashion Week or clothing launch of some sort) or a concert, but definitely not for the office (unless I worked at a record label).

  • Hat: Jacob (from 2010)
  • Jacket:TopShop, size 6 regular (purchased Fall 2010 when I was in London for my honeymoon – similar TopShop jacket here)
  • Boots: Donald J. Pliner, size 5
  • Sunglasses: Fendi

A major thanks to I am Khatu for hosting this month’s Petite Fashion Challenge. Petite Fashion Challenges generally occur 8-10 times a year.  Look for at least two more posts here at DelectablyChic!, with the remaining back at Shorty Stories.
