Poll: Cameras and Phones While Dining – Yes or No?

According to a Toronto Star article from September 5, DC-area restaurant, Rogue24, bans the use of phones and cameras (while Toronto restaurants are completely okay with them), citing proper etiquette and enjoyment of the dining experience. Sure, it’s rude to ignore your dining companions, but many bloggers see dining as a Tweeting/blogging opportunity, and when it comes to food blogging, pictures are pretty much mandatory.  Besides, it’s not like someone is constantly tweeting.  A picture only takes one second, after all.  And don’t restaurants want non-big media reviews?  So, our question to you is:

Is using your phone while dining at a restaurant such a bad thing?

  • Yes, it IS bad. Dining should mean food and friends there. (49%, 18 Votes)
  • What if it's a night-out-on-the-town get-together? Don't you WANT pictures? (19%, 7 Votes)
  • What if you're by yourself? There's no dining partner to pay attention to. (16%, 6 Votes)
  • I can understand talking and texting, but small cameras? It's not like I'm using a DSLR. Besides, what will bloggers do? (11%, 4 Votes)
  • Other. (5%, 2 Votes)

Total Voters: 37
