Rachel Sin: Jetsetting in Work and in Play

The theme for Rachel Sin’s show is “The Urban Jetsetter” and unlike other presentations, two seasons were shown at once.  Typically during Fashion Week, pieces seen on the runway are for the upcoming season.  Instead, the designer is showing both items currently available as well as next season!  The fall pieces, presented first under the hashtag, #rswork, are now available on the designer’s website, consist of beautiful, blues, rich reds (oxblood, colour of the moment), and, of course, the requisite black.  I have many favourites in this collection, but I have to say that the zipper dress in oxblood (below) on top of my wish list!

The upcoming season, presented second and hashtagged #rsplay, is a complete contrast from Fall/Winter 2014.  While many of the current season’s pieces are obviously office-appropriate (and more typical of what the designer has presented in the past), with some “party” looks, Spring/Summer 2015 definitely fits its hashtag.  Fun, flirty and with a colour palette of light aqua, white, gold as well as florals, the collection has more of a Riviera or resort feel.  I can definitely see myself wearing a sun hat, large sunglasses and sandals with the floral pencil dress or perhaps the seafoam maxi, sipping wine while glancing at the beautiful, blue water and enjoying the warm weather.  Just watching the second half of the show has made me forget that Halloween and then Christmas are coming up!

I can’t really decide which season I like more – the more “serious” tone of the current collection or the relaxed, vacation pieces for next season. What about you?  Did you see the show?  Do you prefer #rswork or #rsplay?
