The Roland Mouret for Banana Republic collection launches later this week! The vast majority of the pieces (all dresses, skirts and pants) are in the Sloan cut, Banana Republic’s sleek, body-hugging skirts, dresses and pants, all extremely comfortable, yet professional looking. Some of DelectablyChic!‘s favourites include:
1. Sloan Long-Sleeve Colorblock Dress in Multi:
We like this conservative, long-sleeved dress as it can be dressed up or down and beautifully shows off one’s figure. It’s also NOT dark-coloured only – many of the pieces in the Roland Mouret x Banana Republic collection are dark blue or black, which we think can be very plain (though yes, we do have some black/dark blue favourites, too). There’s also a dressier, one shouldered piece with a similar colour combination. However, if you’re looking for something which you can wear to work, this is the one to get.
2. Sloan Zip Jacket in Black and Sloan High-Waisted Legging in Black:
Not so much the top, but the pants look extremely comfortable (I’m already in love with the Sloan collection of pants and leggings – they’re extremely comfortable, especially when worn with tunic length tops, but aren’t sloppy (i.e. appropriate for running errands without feeling like you’ve just rolled out of bed and perhaps more casual offices). The jacket isn’t super-bad – at least it isn’t too peplum like. I’m tired of peplum!
3. Sloan One-Shoulder Dress in Black:
Looking for an LBD to wear to dinner? This one’s for you! Just add some statement pieces like a chunky necklace or earrings, a clutch and a simple pair of heels and you’re set for a gala.
4. 3/4 Sleeve Colorblock Sweater in Blue/Black and Sloan Leopard Panel Pencil Skirt in Blue/Black:
I actually like the skirt more than the top. Animal print has been a “thing” for the past few seasons, but one doesn’t often see it in blue. The skirt is a bit of a welcome change and doesn’t give off the “cougar” vibe. Good for the office when paired with a sweater or blouse and can be dressed down with a t-shirt as well.
5. Cropped Leopard Sweater in Black/White, Stretch Poplin Button-Down in White and Sloan High Waist Pencil Skirt in Black:
I have to say that my favourite piece in this ensemble is the high-waisted skirt. I mean, can we SAY “sexy secretary?” I’m not a big fan of shorter length skirts – in fact, I tried on a few at another store recently that just didn’t work well on me – I felt like I was showing too much. Funny that I don’t have issues with above the knee dresses or shorts. Maybe it was just the shape. Anyway, this knee length skirt is perfect, dressed up or down, tucked or untucked. And like the animal print piece above, works well with blouses, sweaters or t-shirts.
Price points for this collection will range between $75 for accessories to $250, well under Roland Mouret’s “regular” price points. In addition, pieces will be available both in select stores and online as of August 7. Which ones are your favourites? Will you be shopping this collection?
