The 12th Scrubs in the City raised more than 400,000 for the new Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning at SickKids as over 800 guests “rocked the block” for their Block Party held at Evergreen Brick Works.

The dress code was Street Chic and the food included “street” food and cocktails, a variety of entertainment acts, including Lil JaXe, an incredible 14 year old rapper and a dance party featuring the brilliant DJ Danny Floh Back. The silent auction and raffle featured purses by Alexander McQueen, Marchesa, and Salvatore Ferragamo as well as designer jewelry, vacations and unique “experiential” opportunities.
Scrubs is without a doubt one of the most fun fundraisers and parties of the year. The food was decadent, the ambiance trendy and cutting-edge, the décor filled with some gorgeous graffiti art, the entertainment full of excitement and the sounds of DJ Danny Floh Back unparalleled. This year’s theme, however, while innovative and largely extremely well executed, was really confusing for many people with some coming dressed in Neighbourhood Street Chic and others in traditional cocktail dresses. Even some long prom dresses were sported. Similarly, while the entertainment for the large part was rappers, 80s music and Soul Dancers, there was also a Chinese New Year style entrance and a fab Bollywood dance number, which will dramatic, didn’t really go with the Street theme.

The organizers really put a lot of thought to guests’ comfort including Joe Fresh flip-flops for those who wanted to kick off their shoes, as well as arranging fresh stone-oven pizza from Bonfire for attendees to enjoy on their way out.
