Shop ‘Til You Drop Hits Toronto

Last night, LouLou Magazine’s annual event, Shop ‘Til You Drop hit the Toronto streets.  Participating stores included Banana Republic, Holt Renfrew, BCBG and the Gap.  Ann Taylor, which opened its first Canadian store at the Eaton Centre last week, featured a “style squad,” who wandered around  Bloor Street handing out postcards inviting participants to the after party at La Société. Online shopping site eLuxe.ca also had deals.

Makeovers from Benefit at the Gap

Inside the stores, there were various activities as well.  Banana Republic, for example, featured an fashion illustrator who sketched many of the attendees, while sister store, Gap, had makeovers from Benefit.  LouLou Magazine’s editor-in-chief, Julia Cyboran was at Holt Renfrew, advising on “it” styles for the season (not that many of us don’t know that peplum, burgundy and leather are “it” already).

Until this year, when Fashion’s Night Out landed on our shores, Shop ‘Til You Drop was Toronto’s only major shopping event of this scale.  In fact, I still prefer Shop ‘Til You Drop – at least this year.  Fashion’s Night Out was just too scattered across the city while Shop ‘Til You Drop is mostly within the Yorkville area.  Turn out for the event was pretty decent, especially considering the weather.  It’s been unusually cold in Toronto for the past few days.  The busiest time was probably between 5:15 and 6:30 or 7.
