Spring is coming up. Many women take advantage of the new season to revamp their look. Some might buy new, stylish clothes to mix with the classics in their closet. Others look into accessories. For me, it is definitely beauty. It is out with the heavy, intense looks of fall and winter and in with the airy and soft, feminine faces of spring and summer. In fact, I often wear very little make-up in the warmer months – just moisturizer, sunscreen, a little bit of primer, lip gloss and a bit of eye shadow and mascara. Some of my favourite products to use on little make-up days include:
Some of the author’s favourite products
Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant & UV Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50 from Estee Lauder: This is my go-to sunscreen and I’ve been using it for at least a year. Sometimes, it’s the only skincare product I use (paired with some lip balm).
The POREfessional by Benefit Cosmetics*: This is a pore-minimizing balm that can as a primer under foundation or tinted moisturizer or be worn alone (perfect for those lazy days where you want to wear some make-up, but don’t feel like going through the whole “routine.”)
Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes from Clinique: These thick shadow crayons glide on so simply giving eyes a beautiful look without the need of a sharpener or brush.
Stila Lipglaze: There are so many colours to choose from! And each of them will give you a nice, light, glossy finish. For a stronger look, there’s Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick*, which is very moisturizing and long-lasting. Or, if you’re into multi-use products, there’s always Convertible Colour (compact for lips and cheeks) or their Crush Lip and Cheek stains.
Benefit’s They’re Real mascara: I am very picky about my mascara. With typical skimpy Asian lashes, I need a product that will give me a bit more volume and length. They’re Real by Benefit Cosmetics has done that and best of all, they come in two sizes – regular and travel. I can keep the regular container in my home make-up drawer, while taking the travel sized one to the gym.
One of my favourite places to purchase beauty products is Murale by Shoppers Drug Mart. Offering a wide array of prestige lines including my favourites, Murale also offers exclusive or limited edition brands including Eve Lom, Rodial, Darphin, Juice Beauty, Skyn Iceland and Monteil. Best of all, your Shoppers Optimum Cards can be used, both in store and online. So get those cards ready!
For those of us who, like me, want to replenish beauty products or try new ones, Murale is offering two promotions for the season. In the first, which runs until March 7 in stores and March 12 online, shoppers will receive a cosmetics bag with 27 deluxe samples worth over $385 if they spend $100 (before taxes) or more**. The gift will also include a booklet that includes an Optimum bounce back offer.
The second offer, which is in-store only starts on March 8 and runs until April 4. While there are no samples in this offer, shoppers will receive 20,000 Optimum Points when they spend $125 (before taxes) on regular sized Fab & Free products that were featured in the booklet.
Spring is a great time to get rid of the old and bring in the new, so take this offer while it lasts! I personally will try to take advantage of #1 as there are plenty of products that I’d love to try!
Murale has locations in Toronto (Shops at Don Mills), Ottawa (Bank and Laurier), Montreal (Place Ville Marie), Vancouver (Oakridge Mall), Calgary (Southcentre Mall) and Edmonton (West Edmonton Mall).
*A sample of this product is included in the offer #1 cosmetics bag
** offer valid on the purchase total of eligible products after discounts and redemptions and before taxes. Gift value approximately $385. Available while quantities last. No Rainchecks
