T-Buds Life Stages Teas

Last week, t-buds a tea lounge in the Yonge and Lawrence area of Toronto launched their Life Stages teas at an intimate event.  The teas, which are blends from various herbs, are made for different people at different points in their lives.  Made with unique blends of both traditional and ayurvedic herbs, there are everyone, including women who are pregnant, nursing, menopausal as well as for men.  There’s even a tea for “that time of the month” (which I’ve dubbed “PMS Tea”).  The good thing about teas is that unless one pregnant or nursing, most teas are not going to affect one’s health.  I even sampled a tea from the Life Stages for Him line.

In addition to sampling teas (and tasting some delicious refreshments courtesy of the shop), attendees had the opportunity to speak with Jennifer Pun, a naturopathic doctor about the benefits of tea, especially herbal teas.  Herbs, according to Dr. Pun, “increases the power, but not potency, when mixed together.” And unlike pills, teas have fewer side effects.

An up-close look at one of the teas from the Mom-to-Be collection

T-bud’s Life Stages line includes the following:

Life Stages for Her:

“life” – green tea, nettle, shatavari, licorice root, vitex and natural flavour to help the body and mind.  Enhances fertility

“solace” – the “PMS tea.”  Made with cramp bark, raspberry leaf, dandelion leaf, nettle leaf, lemon balm, rosehips, shatevari and natural essence.  This was one of the teas I tasted.  It has an amazing lemony taste and scent.

Life Stages for the Mom-to-Be:

“ease” – Raspberry leaf, rosehips, raspberry essence to help with the process of childbirth

“nurture” – Made with nettle leaf, raspberry leaf, dandelion leaf, rosehips and oat straw and helps support you as your body changes during pregnancy.

Life Stages for Him:

“energy” – A blend of yerba mate, Siberian ginseng, ginger, tulsi and natural flavour to help the body physically and mentally during the “early working years.”

“relax” – Contains valerian, lemon balm, chamomile, passionflower and liquorice root.  Helps the body relax.

Attendees were served delicious refreshments such a the fruit skewers above

The teas can be purchased on location or online.  In addition to the Life Stages teas, t-buds carries several dozen black, green, white and herbal teas.   As a lover of green teas (I usually have at least one cup a day), one to definitely try is the Sencha Pina Colada buds – green sencha with pineapple and coconut cream.  Not only does it smell delightful, but it’s a tropical resort in tea.
