You may have heard about Starbucks‘ recent logo makeover, which keeps the so-called “Siren,” yet taking away its name, Starbucks Coffee (the new logo is set to launch in the spring). Maybe there’s a reason for that. It could be that Starbucks wants to be known for more than just coffee, such as tea. Starbucks has, for example, been offering tea-based drinks for a number of years. Their partnership with Tazo, based out of Portland Oregon, gives them an extensive menu of different kinds of teas, ranging from traditional black, white, green and herbals to lattes and juice-based drinks (one of my favourite summer drinks are the shaken ice tea lemonades!). Many come in both hot and iced forms.

Starting January 7 and until the 16, Starbucks will be selling Tazo-based lattes at half price from 2 pm to 5 pm in all Canadian locations. Tea lattes can be made with a wide variety of Tazo teas, including Earl Grey, Vanilla Roobois and Green teas. Tea lattes, especially when taken without sugar, have fewer calories than many of the sweetened coffee drinks. A Tall Earl Grey latte made with skim milk, for example, has about 120 calories according to the nutrition chart from Starbucks.
Like their coffees, Tazo teas can be purchased from Starbucks stores. Tazo teas are also available at many supermarkets.
