Simple Elegance for the City Girl with TMR Collection

Back in September, I had the chance to attend the launch of one of Canada’s newest clothing lines, TMR Collection.  Designed by Tara Rivas, the line is versatile and has something for virtually every woman – especially an urban professional who does not have a large closet space.  Due to the neutral colours, the pieces either go well with what a woman already has in her wardrobe or, in the case of one dress (available in two colours), is reversible.  The line may continue to offer reversible pieces in future collections but will consider bright prints as well.

Catering to professional women ranging anywhere from 25-50, the collection is also very much “desk to dinner,” thus eliminating the need to go home and change or haul a second outfit to work if there’s a date or event one has to attend.  Just throw on a vest or take off a jacket and one is good to go!  Besides who wants to deal with the horrible city commute?

Speaking of city living, every single piece in the fall/winter 2015 collection is named after a Toronto street which the designer notes that it is to indicate the collection was manufactured locally.  Names for pieces include Spadina, Roxborough, Hazelton and Davenport.  This, of course, isn’t all that unique, but it’s definitely an excellent choice to subtly highlight that the items are locally made.

Currently, TMR Collection is available online with prices ranging from $140 to $340, so fairly affordable for professional “Bay Street” types.  My personal favourite is the Portland reversible dress, which I own in Merlot/charcoal (also available in black and cement).  I am also a fan of Brant top, available in two shades.  The Hazelton coat is great for a more casual office, date night or a night out with friends.  Sizes range from XS to XL and are, for the most part, “petite friendly.”
