TopShop Officially Opens in Toronto!

After months of having small sections at The Bay on Queen Street, TopShop and TopMan finally opened its doors at Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre.  Crowds (and a decent size one, considering that it’s a work day) lined up outside of the store, waiting to get in.  Because there was limited space, security was only allowing small groups in at a time.  The opening was also a party – a DJ was present, refreshments served and a photo booth was there.  Many shoppers had their pictures taken which would later be posted TopShop Canada’s Facebook page.

The women’s section is on the second floor, on what was once a restaurant.  While it’s not nearly as big as the flagship on Oxford Street in London (or the Soho store in Manhattan), it does have a very good selection, including a small petites section especially for women 5’3″ and below (like all other petite sections, including the gigantic store in London, it’s actually quite small) as well as pieces exclusive to Canada.

Lining up to get into the store

This is not going to be the only TopShop in Toronto.  The Queen Street location is expected to open later this fall and other stores will open soon.  And with Fabricland gone on Yonge and Bloor, it’s possible that TopShop will take over that location as well.  TopShop has been occupying space at the Queen Street store as well as more recently, in Vancouver and Calgary to get shoppers excited about what’s to come.
