Elaine (Toronto Beauty Reviews), Loretta (Petite in the City), Jessy (The Little Dust Princess) and I (Shorty Stories and DelectablyChic!) got together last night for Winterlicious, the winter edition of the twice-yearly “Licious” event here in Toronto. This was a long over-due get-together as we had originally planned something before the holidays. In fact, other than the impromptu meet-up we had in October when Jean was in town, the last time we got together for a meal was during Summerlicious at an Indian restaurant downtown. This time, we hit Greektown.

The venue was Pan on the Danforth, located steps away from the subway. The three course, prix fixe menu offered between four and seven choices per course and yes, it was very hard to decide what. I started looking at my possibilities as soon as reservations were made. For my dinner, I had:
Kolokithokeftedes (zucchini croquettes with feta, kefalograviera cheese and fresh herbs, served with tzatziki )
Arni Kotsi Yiouvetsi (braised lamb shank with Mediterranean herbs and savory vegetables combined to form a rich taste of Aegean specialty served over veggie orzo in a tomato broth) . If I didn’t order the lamb, I probably would have had fish.
Ravani (traditional Greek cake with honey syrup and sprinkle almonds). The ravani was literally soaked in honey and was very, very sweet (but very, very good).
We had a good variety of different foods, though we didn’t get to sample each other’s dishes. Hmmm, maybe next time. Out of the three courses I ordered, I’d have to say that it’s very difficult to decide what my favourite is. Presentation-wise, I liked both the starter and the dessert, but lamb is one of my favourite types of meat, especially at a Greek restaurant. In any case, I was completely stuffed after this meal!
