Embellished Tops and Bishop Sleeves at Tory Burch

Presented off site in what looked like a hotel ballroom, glamorous looks were definitely expected, whether it is colour saturated or basic black.  It’s always best when designers don’t over-do the black for their fall/winter lines, and this was definitely the case with Tory Burch. While there is black in the collection (there has to be black – it’s fall/winter!), other hues include rich  greens, plums and golds as well as winter whites.  Dominating styles for Fall/Winter 2013 include bishop sleeves, embellished tops and dresses as well as sparkle and shine (but in a grown-up sort of way).  There were also many pieces with a black floral patterning on off-white, including a coat and dresses (one of which was worn by Ms. Burch herself).

Many of the pieces were, as usual, wearable by different body types, though hemlines could be a bit shorter or longer to suit average-heighted and petite women.  DelectablyChic! favourites include the embellished white tunic top that was paired with a black, furry hemmed skirt (the top would look much better with pants in real life), a sleek, gold shift dress as well as a shiny red dress with a flounced hem.  The cropped maroon blazer was also a like.  Misses, for the most part, were due to bad styling or the fact that it would just look odd on women who are not tall and skinny.
