New Fitness Studio, UNION Opens its Doors in Toronto

UNION Studio, a collaborative project by Our Lady Peace members Duncan Coutts and Jeremy Taggart as well as Raine Maida, Christie Ness (formerly of Get Spun) and John Kawaja of Taylormade Global Golf.  Located in the hip Bathurst and Wellington area, near the Thompson Hotel, this 2,800 square foot space offers three types of classes: cycle, TRX and barre.  Barre is perhaps the most interesting.  While these types of classes have been available in Toronto for years (City Dance Corp, for example, has offered barre classes since at least 2006), ones offered at UNION are choreographed by Heather Ogden, a principal dancer at the National Ballet of Canada.  Classes are available at a variety of different levels and each section has no more than 15 people.

In addition to classes in three distinct areas, UNION Studio also offers a vast array of amenities.  Change rooms are stocked with all-natural shampoos and conditioners from Rahua as well as skincare products from Lovefresh, a Canadian based all-nautural brand.  For those are hungry, there is a snack bar with offerings that include freshly pressed juices and foods that can be ordered before a class or a la crate walk-ins – unusual for a space of this size.  UNION Studio is also one of the first in Canada to sell Waiola, a brand of coconut water.

UNION Studio offers classes every day of the week, with many during the pre- and post-work hours.  Classes are $20 to $25 each and packages are also available.
