Over the lunch hour on March 28, Virgin Mobile Canada hosted “Love-Fest” at Bay and Bloor in Toronto. The “flash mob” event was to get Facebook to add a “love” button so people can not just “like” something, but “love” it. After all, “like” isn’t as strong an adjective as “love”. Dozens of people braved the cold March weather to hold signs and balloons asking people to “Join the Love Movement.” Buttons and stickers were also handed out.
While the “love” button is currently not part of the regular Facebook atmosphere, users can download the love app online by signing the petition. For the first 500,000 items loved on Facebook through this app. $0.05 will be sent to the REd Cross and relief efforts in Japan.
