WAXON Launch and Christian Boutique Shopping Night – May 30, 2012

In the Rosedale-Summerhill area, WAXON Waxbar launched with a beach-themed party (there was even some bubble blowing!).  This wax bar offers services the typical waxing services for both men and women, including brow shaping, bikini waxes and coming soon, threading.  Most services are under $50 each, excluding taxes.  Delicious summer friendly foods such as hot dogs (with delicious grainy mustard!) and mini sliders as well as cookies from Delica’s Kitchen and cocktails from le Petit Castor were served.  They also served bruschetta and grilled cheese with homemade ketchup (a little bit unusual for a beach party, but nonetheless excellent).

A bit further northwest, Christian Boutique on St. Clair West and Dufferin held a VIP Cocktail event Wednesday evening.  This store, which carries pieces from a host of different international designers including Anna Sui, also creates custom pieces – a rarity for women’s fashion stores.  Attendees at the event enjoyed shopping, cocktails as well as cupcakes and macarons from We Bake in Heels  as and pizzas from pizza e pazzi.  It was a quiet, mingling type of event – great for many to catch up with friends and try on clothes and a slightly different environment than WAXON, which was more of a party atmosphere.  I would have tried on some pieces, but I was too busy talking to people and didn’t get a chance (saw a very interesting tooth brush dress by Anna Sui).
