For some reason, I can’t seem to find this sweater at either the US/International Banana Republic store nor the Canadian one. It could be sold out, but there were plenty at the two of the stores near me when I was there last week. This versatile piece is definitely a sweater that adds pop to just about anything in your wardrobe whether it be for week day or weekend. For this Webitor’s Pick, I put together three different looks with the sweater, one with a skirt (which was purchased at the same time) and two with pants.
Paired with a pencil skirt:
- Top and skirt: Banana Republic, size XSP and 00P respectively
- Shoes: Christian Louboutin Proratas, size 34
This look is good for work at a casual office. If you want to look a little dressier, add a jacket/blazer or cardigan. Can be worn with accessories or plain (I suggest going easy. You can’t look too loud and therefore, tacky with an outfit like this). I was a little hesitant in tucking the skirt in, as I’m a little bit boxy shaped so tucked in looks don’t always look god. I found that this one looked a bit better than normal, however. Belting can work if you find the right colour.
A more preppy look:
- Pants: Jacob Houndstooth ankle pant, size 0
- Jacket: Femme de Carriere, size 30
- Boots: Cole Haan, size 5
- Cap: RW&Co, Fall 2011
This look was conceived more for fun than something that I’d wear on a typical weekend. It’s a bit equestrian inspired (growing up, I was probably one of few girls who was never interested in horses. I haven’t figured out if it’s because I spent too much time at the piano or if it’s just that my parents never got me horse books) and therefore more fall-like. It’s a little different from what I’d normally wear, but I won’t, however, rule out for Fashion Week or some kind of event.
Denim:
- Jeans: Allison Izu, size 24/00
- Shoes: Christian Louboutin Proratas, size 34
A sweater and jeans is a pretty standard weekend look for me. In the winter, I’m more likely to wear skinnies and long, loose-fitting tops with tall boots than something like this, since snow can dirty the bottoms of pants, and definitely not pumps! Too dangerous! This, along with a nice trench would definitely be a pretty spring piece. In fact, I can’t wait for weather to warm up so I can wear this full look.
In terms of fit, the sweater is pretty true-to-size so there isn’t an need to size down (as many people seem to have done with Banana Republic). It is also quite light weight, and in Toronto weather, will probably last you well into May or even early June, depending on when the first heatwave hits. Besides green, the sweater also comes in the season’s it colour, orange. The style number for this sweater is 679040-04.
