Highlights from This Year’s White Cashmere Show

The 11th White Cashmere fashion show featuring couture dresses (and suits – there was one outfit created for men) made out of Cashmere bathroom tissue and created by Canada’s top designers was held at The Carlu on September 30, just in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  This year, the designers were hand picked by White Cashmere alumni and included Sarah Stevenson, Hilary MacMillan, Ken Chow and Martin Lim.  Prior to the start of the show, attendees mingled in the lobby while munching on mini ice cream bites (pink flavours, of course).

The pieces were, as usual, gorgeous.  My favourites included Eugene Paunil’s piece, which included a round disc-like piece at the back as well as Sarah Stevenson’s sleek, peplum/column dress.  The final dress, created by Sarah Nicol, was modelled by Cityline‘s Tracy Moore.  As usual, there were speeches from the event’s creative director, Farley Chatto, as well as host Beverly Thomson.  Most compelling was a speech by Nalie Agustin, a Montreal-based blogger and vlogger a 20-something survivor of breast cancer.  The show was followed by a reception which DelectablyChic! was, unfortunately, unable to attend.

Cashmere has, of course, brought back the Pink Embossed Cashmere bathroom tissue for the month of October.  Twenty-five cents of every purchase of the product will go directly to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation througout the month.  The funds will support research, health education and advocacy initiatives.  In addition, you can vote for your favourite piece from this year’s show for a chance to win great prizes such as a trip to New York City!
