Windfall, the charitable organization which collects clothing for those in need is once again holding its Wear White 4 Windfall campaign in 2011. The 2011 campaign will start in the beginning of the year and will not only raise funds, but also public awareness about those in need. Several Canadian celebrities including Traci Melchor, Anne Mroczkowski, Dina Pugliese, Shawn Hewson and Roger Peterson participated in a shoot recently at Toronto’s Spoke Club. The shoot took all day, with celebrities being shot wearing some white-coloured item – there were plenty of hats, mittens, scarves and other wintery pieces to choose from. Other people wore white clothing which they brought from home. While waiting for their turn in front of the camera, the models nibbled on delightful vegetarian goodies courtesy of the Spoke Club.

Windfall is Toronto’s only NEW clothing bank and helps over 64,000 men, women and children across the city. Rather than getting gently worn clothing donated from the public, Windfall receives all of its clothes new (from retailers with a surplus) and distributes its clothes through 100 social agencies in the city. For many people living in poverty, new clothing provides more confidence and brings up individuals’ self-esteem, making people feel like they’re more equal in the playing field.
