Winterlicious 2013 Starts Next Week!

Have you made your reservations yet?  The usual suspects are back again this season with their prix fixe menus (doesn’t seem that anyone new was added.  Isn’t it time to get some more new faces in?).  Prices have not changed – they are still $15, $20 or $25 for lunch and $25, $35 and $45 for dinner.  As reservations started last week, many are already booking up fast.  There are too many restaurants to recommend just one, though we highly suggest Trevor Kitchen and Bar on Wellington, east of Yonge at a price point of $35 per person for dinner.  There is no lunch.  Last year, the restaurant gave all attendees a complimentary bowl of cotton candy.  Yes, cotton candy – the fluffy sugary stuff one might find at fairs and amusement parks.  Other participating restaurants include Mildred’s Temple Kitchen, Kultura and Bloke and 4th.

In addition to the prix fixe menus, there are, of course, culinary events.  These range from brunch and a gallery tour (“An Egg and a Crust of Bread” at the AGO on January 26) to a Japanese tea ceremony (held at Spice Route on January 27) and a pizza making session at Ciao Wine Bar in Yorkville (the January 30 sessions sold out, but February 6 is still available).  These events have admissions costs averaging at about $50.
