Relaxing at Wish Restaurant

One of my favourite Yonge and Bloor area restaurants is Wish Restaurant on Charles, just east of Yonge.  Known for a while as The Black Skirt, Wish offers delicious lunch and dinner choices as well as a weekend brunch and is definitely a place to go if you want to get away from the hustle of Yorkville shopping.

I have had brunch, lunch as well as dinner at the restaurant, but I have to admit that brunch is my favourite.  Selection includes standard favourites like Eggs Benedict (served with peameal bacon and leak and parmesan fondue, which is the standard for their poached egg dishes), French toast and omelettes as well as lighter fare such as steal cut oatmeal and broiled grapefruit with raw sugar.  A favourite is the grilled Nutella sandwich with raspberry compote – great as a side to share.  Those cautious about portion sizes would be glad to know that it’s more European than North American.

Though relatively dark inside (for brunch, especially), the atmosphere at Wish is extremely relaxing.  Those who prefer more (natural) light may want to sit in the patio, which is covered in the winter.  One note is that service can be slow when it is a bit  busy as they do not have a large staff.  However, this is the kind of restaurant where you want to linger rather than rush.
