The last day (not counting Fashion Saturday – more on that in the Yays, Mehs and Nays coming later this week)!
Hilary Macmillan:
One of the few designers who actually included true spring/summer colours in the collection – lavenders and shiny pieces, combined with the blacks and whites seen at the vast majority of shows (it’s to the point that I’ve accepted black as an appropriate shade for spring/summer outside of the office and mourning attire – for the upcoming season, anyway). One of my favourites is the lavender sheath dress with colourful ruffles at the hem. The dress is definitely on my wishlist!
Thomas Bálint:
All I can say is this: WHAT was that? The entire collection was in black (except for ONE PIECE that was camel/tan) and the models had emotionless faces – almost as if they were zombies. I understand that it’s supposed to be “art,” but I’m not sure if I want to see something so depressing for spring. Oh well, it’s almost Halloween, so I guess it makes sense.
Cara Cheung:
While I wouldn’t think of using leather for a warm weather collection, save for bags and shoes, for Cara Cheung, it sort of works. The style is a bit sophisticated rocker chick with asymmetrical hemlines (horizontal mullet skirts? They’re short on the right side and maxi on the left), a bit of lace, as well as pops of florescent yellows.
Stephen Caras:
While again, there wasn’t much colour (black and white, for the post part), at least the Stephen Caras collection does have a warm weather air to them, with printed gowns and a hint of pink. There were both shorter, cocktail style pieces as well as evening gowns. The entire collection really makes me wish I had more non-cocktail style galas to go to where I could be wearing some of these! If I were to wear any of these pieces, I’d more likely end up with a shorter dress or the white cropped pants.
Mikael D:
This line was formerly known as Pavoni, and seemed to be THE collections that bloggers are raving about (from my observation). There were definitely quite a few standout pieces, including the finale gown, a white short-in-the-front, with a long train gown reminiscent of Stephanie Seymour’s wedding dress in the “November Rain” video. The dress is updated for the 2010s, and hopefully not cursed (yeah, yeah, I know, it was a dream. But am I seriously the only fashion blogger old enough to remember this video?). Other standout pieces in the collection include a blue mermaid gown and a teal, side slit dress. Again, I wish I had somewhere to go, so I could wear them.
Lacerda and Bustle also showed on Day 5.
