World MasterCard Fashion Week: October 19-23

Toronto’s World MasterCard Fashion Week starts next Monday, October 19.  DelectablyChic! will be covering some of the shows – namely select presentations on October 19-21, possibly other days as well.  In addition to runway and studio presentations, we will also be writing about possible new discoveries at the press and buyers’ brunch, held on the 21st and 22nd (DelectablyChic! will be there on the 21st).

So which designers are we most looking forward to seeing?  Rachel Sin, for one.  She was last seen on the runway last year, presenting both her fall 2014 and spring 2015 collections.  Her Spring/Summer 2016 collection is called #staygold.  Other possibly interesting shows include a Star Wars-themed presentation in addition to finalists for the Mercedes-Benz StartUp competition.  Big name regulars participating include Pink Tartan, Narces, Mikael D (who, as usual, will be showing on the final day) and Mackage.  Lucian Matis will also be presenting this year.  What is missing from this season’s shows is Fashion Saturday, which took place at both the Spring/Summer 2014 and 2015 seasons.  It highlighted the best of the week and also included a marketplace featuring many Canadian designers.  Perhaps it will be back in March for the fall shows.

Will YOU be attending the shows? Who are YOU most looking forward to seeing?  Are there designers you’d like to see but are NOT on this season’s calendar?
